Hello, I have trouble with the transfer case not engaging the front hubs which are automatic not manual types.
I have replaced the transmission shift motor and the chassis brain box(located in r,wheel well). They check out fine and the power to switch and shift motor are ok. I hear a clunk when 4L is engage. The front drive shaft is not turning. Is it my front automatic hubs that may be out? Any further ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The automatic hubs on these vehicles are known for going bad. The teeth that engage the axle go bad. As a result, the 4wd doesn't work. You can take the hubs apart to clean and relube the parts, but my suggestion is to replace them with manual hubs. In the winter, just leave them engaged. The 4wd won't work until you engage the transfer case.

Let me know if you have other questions.
