I have a 1991 ford explorer and this afternoon on the way home, it started to emit steam from the heater and defrost vents. Stopping on the side of the road there was a fair amount of water and antifreeze coming from the engine, just above and behind the passenger wheel well, any ideas what it may be and how to fix it

Hi there,

You will have a coolant leak, possibly in the heater system, you need to get a pressure test done to locate the exact point it is leaking, do this ASAP, as you run the chance of doing engine damage with low coolant, if you can't do this your self get it towed, don't drive it.
