1999 Ford Expedition replace the hood latch

Open the hood.
Remove any covers that are blocking access to the latch.
Draw a line around the latch for installation reference.
Remove the latch retaining nuts that are securing it to the radiator support.
Disconnect the hood release cable and spring. This is located on the back of the latch assembly.
Install the hood release cable and spring to the new latch.
Install the new latch assembly by bolting it to the radiator support. Do not tighten all the way.
Using the line that was drawn in the beginning, place the new latch assembly into the original position. Tighten the mounting bolts.
Close the hood to verify the latch and hood engage properly.
Check and adjust the hood bumpers on each side to verify that they are slightly compressed when the hood is closed.
Open hood and reinstall covers over latch assembly. Close the hood to verify repair.
