I have replaced the alternator 4 times. 2 rebuilds and 2 new. I had autozone test the last two and they tested good on the bench, but produced no charge once installed. The Ford dealership still thinks the alternator is bad. This would be freak to have 4 bad alts.

I have tried running a jumper cable from the battery to the alternator to bypass any bad wiring etc.

Please help. Or tell me how to trouble shoot.

Thanks,

jamie

Excursions have a place for an additional alternator on the opposite side of the engine. The vehicle is pre-wired for this as well. Those wired were broken.

$5 wire splicing turned into 400.00 alternator and weeks of driving around with a battery charger.
