Starts up, then nothing

i got the car firing up, then it shuts off, its sounding as if its getting gas, then something is blocking the gas to keep the car running. What to do now?

Don't rule out that it could be an electrical issue that stops the engine. But let's pursue the fuel angle.

Have you replaced the fuel filter in a while? The pump could be weak and I would suggest a fuel pressure check. After that is the fuel pressure regulator.

When it stops does it start right away again?

It does, after a turn or two, but I got the thing firing up.

When it starts, and as I press on the gas pedal to keep it running, I get no response, I can rev it once, but thats it, and when I do get to rev it, when I put it to the floor, it revs high, high high, then it goes eeeerrrrrrrrr dies. I dunno if I just made sence or not, but, why is it doing that?

Oh yea, new pump, new filter, im going to get a pressure regulator tommorow at pick n pull
