How do I get my car to run after battery cables on backwards

I left the radio on while cleaning my 1994 Ford Escort and the battery died. My dad and I tried to jump it in the dark, freezing cold later that night and oops put the battery cables on backwards. Initially my car's engine light and indoor light would work, but after that incident it was completely dead. Never got my car to run. Now what can we do to fix it? I understand we might have burned a fuse or tripped the power control module or something, but where is this power control module or whatever I need to get to and what do I do to fix it?
Thanks for your help!

Behind the instrument panel, left of the steering column is the home of the pcm that was probably damaged.

Thank you, how can I tell if it is damaged? If it is, do I need to replace it or reprogram it?

Do you mean you have absolutely nothing (headlights, ignition, dome)? Even with a charged battery? Most vehicles have a main fuse. Follow the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter then up to the firewall for cab power and there should be a junction block with a big fuse.
