Electrical problem/ Transmission Problem
2002 Ford Escort ZX2 Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 53000 miles

I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP/GARAGE TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE TO UIT FROM AN ACCIDENT. THE REPAIRS TO BE DONE WAS ON THE FRONT-RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. WHICH INCLUDES THE AREA FROM THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT TO THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE CAR. THEY MENTIONED HAVING TO DOOR SOME BUMPER WORK/ SOMETHING WITH THE RADIATOR/ SOMETHING WITH THE DOOR/ AND SOME OTHER THINGS. BUT WHATEVER THEY DID. NOW MY CAR WILL NOT RUN. MY STEPDAD AND I WHILE PRESSING ON THE GAS COULD WARM THE ENGINE UP THAT WAY AND THEN WHILE IN NEAUTRAL PUT IT IN DRIVE. BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY IT WOULD START. THIS MORNING IT DID NOT EVEN ALLOW US TO DO THAT AND PRIOR TO ME TAKING IT IN TO THE SHOP. IT DID NOT MATTER HOW COLD IT WAS OUTSIDE. MY CAR STILL AT LEAST STARTED. WHAT DO YOU THINK MAY BE THE PROBLEM AND HOW SHOULD WE SOLVE IT? THANKS FOR YOU HELP!

Well, are you saying it will crank just not fire, or will it not crank at all.

The car will crank. It just wont fire. Yesterday morning around 3:30 am, the car cranked but did not fire; so when I got home from work around 1 pm.I'm assuming because it had gotten a little warmer. We still had to do the same process of keeping the car in park and pushing on the gas to rev it up and then do the same in neutral to get it to drive. But it kept running after that. This morning. It did the same crank. But did not fire at all and the service engine light was on. I know some would say it is because of the cold. But I never had this problem before I took it into the shop when it was cold before; this problem came after the shop.

Will it fire up if you spray starter fluid directly in the throttle body while cranking?
