I just recently flushed and changed the engine coolant for my 1999 Ford Escort LX only to find out my thermostat was completely shot. I purchased a new thermostat and explicitly followed the procedure step by step and disconnected everything that is supposed to be disconnected. I installed everything back correctly and refilled the missing 50/50 coolant but for some reason my check engine light is now on, is there a reason for this and can I get it corrected?

Please read the " Check Engine Light" topic on the left side under Site Menu. If you have an Autozone auto parts store close to you, they will check it for you free. Upon getting the trouble code (usually starts with P0), post another topic regarding that code and surely, members will try to help you answer your problem.
