My car about a week ago the check engine light came on, but it ran fine, till today. I went to start my car and put it in reverse, I did this action quickly as usual, and the car stalled pulling out of the parking space, I then figured out that i had to hold the gas to keep the car running. seeing that it has electrical timing, I tried restting the computer by disconnecting the battery.

When i start the car, it fires up just fine but quickly forgets it on and the rpm's free fall to 0. to keep the car moving, i have to keep changing the ammount of pressure I put to the gas pedal. the wires look good, the s-belt is worn and could be replaced, but it is moving everything. you thoguhts?

have it scanned for codes auto zone do it for free and most local shops too
check under hood for vacuum leaks
check ,clean and or replace idle air control valve

Check engine light on for a reason
as that will help to pin point the troubled area
disconnecting the battery will complicate the issue because computer has to relearn the idle
