Engine Performance problem
1998 Ford Escort 4 cyl Automatic 187000 miles

Hi, I drive a 1998 Ford Escort (4 door) and I'm having problems with my engine starting. Well for that matter, the headlights dont come on and the horn wont blow. I thought I had a bad batter but when I purchased a new one from auto zone and installed it, it still had the same problem. I dont know what else it could be, please help me.

Hi drpatrick1990,

Thank you for the donation.

Symptoms indicates a most likely power supply failure.

Check the Main Maxi fuse ( 100 A ) and BTN Maxi Fuse ( 40 A) in engine compartment fuse box. If fuses are good, unplug them and test for battery volatage at 1 end. If no voltage is present, check the battery positive wire to the fuse box connection and continuity.

Check if the following are working:

1. Brake lights
2. Hazard lights
3. Room lights.
4. Door locks.
