My car has been cutting out when idleing. It doesn't do it all the time; I recently changed the oil and had the alternator replaced because it completely died on me on the way to work last Monday. I thought that would take care of it, but it still cut out when idleing again the next day. Also, this morning, it was kinda jerking on my way to work, and I was trying to pass someone and it was as though the accelerator would not allow me to speed up and then it started acting like it was going to cut out again. Could this be a problem with the the fuel not getting to where it needs to go or not flowing properly? I'm worried because I'm having a baby in a couple weeks and need to make sure everything is running properly - Thanks!

I had this same problem a few years back with my Escort. It was due to a crack in a small hose behind my engine. It was one of the air intake hoses I believe. The good news was that the small hose was not expensive. Around $8 I think. The bad news was that they had to take out my engine to get to it so labor was around $200.
