1998 Ford Escort 4 cyl Automatic

I just bought this car about one month ago and last Sunday I noticed when I took off it was jerking like it almost didn't want to go. I thought it was jsut becasue I needed to get gas. It did it today and yesterday when I left for work. It only does it when you first get in the car or when you are at a stop light for a long time. I read some where it could have something to do with the struts or shocks and I already know that I need them but don't have the money yet. What else could it be?

Lack of acceleration, chugging, hesitating, jerking, bogging, misfiring etc. could be caused by one of the following below:

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it.
