My escort is running roughat idle and check eng light came on. Did the pocket scan on it and got a random misfire code. What do i need to check?

Using a spark tester, check for spark. a fuel gauge for pressure and or a compression gauge for compression testing.
a vacuum leak can cause this and can be flushed out by spray carb cleaner around suspected areas and listening for an idle change.
