Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1997 ford escort, the car keeps misfiring and sometimes it stops and will not start, it will start later and run okay, then it starts misfiring again. I have changed the 02 sensors, the cramshaft sensors, checked the pressure of the fuel pump (it's OK) changed the fuel filter, I changed the camshaft sensor and I do not get any spark, now I changed the coil pack, spark plugs and wires and still no spark.
The camshaft sensor is not the original for the car but I was told it fits the escort engine, I have my doubts, do I have to get the original, does the computer "read" parts that are not the originals? The car kicks over but no spark.I have heard that the crankshaft has to be gauged, what does that mean?.
Any help would be welcomed.
