hi, we have a ford escort and any preasure on the accelerator leads to very high revs and their is no power especially going up hills. any advice please.

For a manual stickshift.If you are stepping on the gas and it just revs up but hardly moving especially on uphill. Your clutch disc is already worn out. This is located between the engine and the transmission. Clutch disc got a lining like brake pads. The lining is worn out already. Unusual for 88,000 miles. Maybe you step too much on the clutch pedal hanging in the middle. Nothing wrong with engine and transmission. Just the clutch disc. Suggestion: replace the following in the diagram 1. Clutch disc 11. Pressure plate 10. Release bearing
