While driving, I have to turn the steering wheel a quarter turn to the left or right before the steering engages and actually turns the tires. Its hard to drive on curvy roads. Is it because of worn bushings or caskets in the steering column, shaft, or plate. Can you please tell me what to do to fix the problem? Thank you very much. I just got the car for my son and i'm worried.

Ase there are a number if items involved in the steering, such as tie rod ends (inner & outer) steering rack components, steering column and suspension components can all affect the steering, I recommend that a mechanic do this inspection and advise on what repairs are required to rectify this problem.
