1995 Ford Escort 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 135000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My mechanic installed a fuel pump & strainer. When I picked the car up it went 1 mile & stopped dead again. I was able to start it up again & I got it back to the mechanic. The car stopped running again when we took it for a short ride. He said the car needed a gas filter which he put in. He said there was no guarantee the car would noi stop running again. He said if it did he would have to drop the gas tank since it is running dirty. My question- What is the average cost to do thisand would it solve the problem? I already paid $475 to him for the above work. I paid cash. I asked him to take off the tax. Thank you for your help. Noreen
