Automatic Transmission
2 Wheel drive
No Strange Sounds
No Fluid Leaks
New fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, air filter, and fuel relay.

Problem:
When I bought this as my first car it ran pretty well and I felt good. Not too long after, the car would idle rough and would stall at any time while driving (braking, idling at a red light, and driving at a constant speed). Car always starts right back up.

Took this problem down to a dealership and the found the fuel pump needed replacing, along with a tune-up. Good, I thought, at least the problem is diagnosed. So that is when we put new fuel pump and filter, along with spark plugs and wires, and air filter into the car.

The car now idles fine, with no rough running, but after about a week after replacing those parts, it started to cut out and stall randomly. Have taken it back again, and no error codes whatsoever have come up, even during a 20 minute test drive. Recommended that maybe the fuel relay is shorting out, so we put one in.

Car still idles fine, but stalling still happens and the car still starts right after it stalls. I have read around and was wondering if a vacuum leak or Idle Air Control Valve could be the culprit? The dealership has run out of ideas, I hope someone here might know about these older Fords. Thanks!

I had a 1995 Escort GT with a similar problem. We changed a lot of stuff before finally discovering that the rubber air conduit from the air cleaner box to the intake had a big crack on the bottom. I tapped it up with duct tape while waiting for a new one which I had ordered and the problem was corrected.

More to do with vacuum leak than IAC, if IAC was bad, you would have a lousy idle!
