Engine Performance problem
1993 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

ok my car sometimes is very hard to start. if u dont hold the gas to the floor it will just keep turning over. now i have replaced the fuel filter the regulator and even the o rings on the injectors. i have checked to make shure the vacume wasnt cloged. wheni checked the fuel pressure it says 30. then i hit the gas it jumps up bout 2psi up then drops to 27. the book says nornal pressure is between 35-40. i was thinking a fuel pump problem befor i tested the pressure. but now i'm lost.where should i check now. its got a new timming belt. new plugs, wires, and coil pack. even a new batt

-EFI system don't like low fuel pressure-check the injector/s and the fuel pressure regulator if its leaking-if not decide on a new fuel pump-

ok i just noticed that the guy that put this motor in bypased the egr. he just cut a plat of metal to prevent a air leak and removed the electronics it was hooked to. coul this cause it to be hard to start.

If it sealed properly it will not cause your problem-if it leaks it will create a huge vacuum leak and can cause a no start condition.
