1993 Ford Escort connecting rods

I am rebuilding the engine in my car. I went through each connecting rod and put on a new piston and rings. I kept them in order but can't remember if they came out with the markings on the side of the connecting rod towards the front or the back of the engine. Being that I am replacing pistons, rings and bearings does it really matter which journal they connect to and if I have them facing the opposite way or not?
