Hi there,

Well how long is a piece of string? I have seen the 3.9 engines working well at 300,000 Km's and also re built failed engines in the low 100's well serviced engines will as a rule go the distance, but these engines do have a problem. I have repaired a few that have had sleeves come loose, When this happens, they knock like a bearing but not at crank shaft speed the knock dose not go away when you kill the cylinders one at a time (this would pick up a cracked piston or big end bearing, oil pressure is OK hot as well. There is a modified sleeve to over come this problem, but as for the other inherent problem oil leaks, well it is British after all.

The same goes with transmissions as well, keep the services up, don't abuse them and they will go the distance.
