Air bag light blinks

The vehicle has one air bag in the steering wheel and the air bag dash light blinks several times in approximately one minute intervals. What does the blinking light mean relative to the condition of the air bag. Would the blinking light be a problem getting a state vehicle inspection in North Carolina?
Thanks in advance for any response.
Respectively,
Donald

Yes. The light flashing will not allow you through most any state inspection.

We need to start with pulling the codes so that we can find out what is causing the light to come on.

Your vehicle has an OBD 1 system, so I am attaching the info from the manual on how to pull the codes. Basically, you count the flashing of the light with the key in the on position.

Once we know what codes are there, we will be able to take the next steps. Until then we are just guessing so let's start with the codes and we can go from there.

Thanks
