Hi
I have a 1996 contour, Automatic six cylinder with 76,000 miles. While driving at constant speed the car speed up by itself. If I let go off the throttle it slows down to normal. Would appreciate a response to what is going on.

Thanks,
AB :(

ok if the check engine light is not on, then it could be a mechanical problem, like a throttle linkage or the spring that returns the throttle to idle, check that first and make sure that its having enought pressure and works smoth.

Did you "feel" the pressure on the pedal?
I mean its not "loose"?

If its not mechanical could be a sensor that its not "reading" like a TPS (throttle position sensor)
or MAF sensor (Mass air flow sensor)
