99 contour, 4 cyl, 2.0 liter. The car stsrts right up. After it warms up, I tap the pedal and let go, it stalls. If I drive it, it will stall every time I stop. The code is PO340 camshaft position sensor. I replaced it, no help. I checked the wiring from the computer to it, all good. Could it be a faulty computer, could the timing belt jump, It happened all of a sudden. Could the crankshaft position sensor set off the po340 code? Please help. Tom

Here's the differences betwee the two.

Cam-it tells the computer the firing order
Crank-" " " " " position of the no.1 piston and also the engine speed and other functions.

Won't hurt to check it to include the EGR

Good Luck!

It is an aztec engine, which means it has no egr valve. Tney removed the egr, and uses a cam sensoe solenoid to retard the timing. It uses oil pressure. I thought that may be it, I flushed the engine but it did not help.
