1996 Ford Contour surges when Air Condition is turned on.

Hi and thank you for answering my question. I have a 1996 Ford Contour 2.0 with 160,000 miles. I recently repaired and charged the Air Conditioning system. Now everytime I turn on the Air Condition in my Contour, the engine revs/surges high and low atleast 5 times and then stablizes for 15secs before the start of the surge cycle. When the air is turned off the surge disappears and the engines revs at normal RPM. Any suggestion to repair this annoyance would be higlhy appreciated. Thnks

A friend of mine is having this same problem with his car and he's asked me to try and find out something online. I was wondering if you ever got yours fixed and if you could tell me something that might help him out.
