My vehicle has 150K miles on the same alternator. I believe the bearings are going out. Should I replace the whole alternator or just the bearings?

Another question: Same vehicle. My (original) starter solenoid is periodically not engaging. Should I replace the solenoid or the whole starter?

thx.

The solenoid is on the inner fender, next to the battery, so I would replace only the solenoid. Unless you can remove the pulley and have done an alternator or two, get the new alternator. If you choose to rebuild it yourself, get a new brush set too.
