I just bought a 1993 Bronco. High mileage but the owner said engine had about 50k. When I first got it the temp guage did not work at all. Changed the sending unit to an OEM unit. Guage then read very erratic readings. Middle of normal to almost the H, back down to normal, then back hot, all in about 30 seconds. Changed sending unit again, to a Ford part. Same thing. Went to a completely new electronic guage with its sending unit. Still the same.200-280, back and forth. Changed radiator, thermostat, and water pump. Fan clutch tests good. Now, truck runs at 212-220 at highway speeds according to the add-on aftermarket guage. The erratic fluctuations are gone, but I think it is still running too hot! What do I check next?
