Transmission problem
1988 Ford Bronco V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 200K miles

I Have a 88 Bronco XLT 5.8 351windsor. It shifts very good through 1, 2, 3 gears as far as I can tell.
EDIT: (DAMN, I answered my own question with this one, the c6 transmission IF it is the one I have only had 3 forward gears + reverse.)

So, let move on to HOW to save gas.

Also only getting 6-8mpg could this possibly be the reason? I am sure my EGR valve is shot and I currently have the wrong PCV installed if that could effect gas mileage as well ;) When I had it titled they said it had recently failed emissions. Judging from the exhaust tips, im guessing its running ridiculously rich. When floored, dumps a bit of black smoke (better than white smoke) :) also doesnt ROAR like you would think it should when floored, like its being flooded or vice versa with fuel.

But overall, the engine is very strong (throttle response is a bit slow) and the transmission seems to function awesome.

Any possible gas saving suggestion suggestions and could the bad EGR valve and wrong PCV hamper gas mileage?

First go to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail and see if any gas is present in the vacuum line to the intake. These popping is common and it will richen the engine up pretty bad. Also may need to replace the oxygen sensor if it has been runing that rich for any length of time. Ill ignore the trans question. LOL
