Well, I bought the Aspire a few days ago and so far have had a very persistent engine misfire problem. Originally the check engine light was on and the codes reported a random misfire and a problem with the fuel throttle injector. We replaced the fuel throttle injector and the light stayed off for about a day. The next day, the check engine light was lit again, this time with just a random misfire code. This time, we tried replacing the spark plugs. It ran good for on the way home but later that day the light came back on... again.

I'm not a car person, I really have no idea what I'm doing here so we're kind of at the mechanic's mercy. This is my first car and quite frankly I'm running out of money for repairs that don't solve the problem. I've been doing some online research and it sounds like the MAF could be a possible problem to cause a random misfire. Does this sound likely? Or what are some other things that should be checked as possible causes of a misfire? Also, is it possible that the computer is just thinking there's a misfire when there really isn't? I haven't thought I've felt any misfires, but I also haven't been driving long so I'm not really sure what to look/listen for. It seems like it's running smooth to me, but I don't really know.

If you could suggest any possible causes of a random misfire, a false misfire reading or other things worth checking I would be VERY appreciative. Thanks so much.
