When we try to start the van, the starter works and the engine cranks, but will not start. Tried replacing fuel filter (in line). Sometimes it does start after repeated attempts, but has trouble starting cold. After running the van for part of the day, we can get it to start w/o problems if the engine is still warm.

I may have to- but I may also just try replacing the fuel regulator. It looks like it may not be to hard.

Okay get a fuel pressure tester and check the pressure the only way to nail the pressure regulator-remove the vacuum hose on the regulator do you have fuel on it? If so its gone-if not test the coolant temperature sensor.
