1993 Ford Aerostar Starts but won't stay running

Van starts fine but only runs for a few mins. before idling down, slightly sputtering & dying out. Think a new rotor cap would fix this problem or does it sound like there's more to it?

Hello,

Well, if it is the 3.0L engine it could be. Remove the Distributor Cap and look inside if the contacts are corrodid then it is a good chance that is your problem. And you should replace the Cap and Rotor.

Also when was the last time the Fuel Filter was changed?

Check and clean the IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve.

Also could be Weak Fuel Pump and/or Fuel Pressure Regulator.

If engine light is on would help if can pull codes.
