the gas guage either sticks on full or empty. what is causing this

MORE THAN LIKELY IT IS YOUR SENDING UNIT IN YOUR FUEL TANK. I KNOW IN MY '89 AEROSTAR, THE SENDING UNIT AND THE FUEL PUMP ARE ONE UNIT. EITHER WAY, YOU HAVE TO DROP THE FUEL TANK TO CHANGE.
