How do I recharge battery when it is in the boot and that will not open open for access?

Usually cars with a battery in the trunk ("boot") have terminal access points under the hood. The positive (+) should be covered with a red colored cap. If there is one for negative, it is covered with a black cap and probably has a (-) on it. If you can provide more specifics (model, sub-model, engine size, automatic or manual) I can probably look up more specific information. Let us know.

There are no terminal access points under the hood unfortunately. Car is V12 coupe 1996.

Okay, then you must connect power to the large lead of the alternator or starter to feed power into the battery which will allow you to get the trunk open

I opened up the fuse box & found a larger sized cable that had about 4volts left on it. Removed it's fuse & cut the cable to create a positive terminal block. Replaced fuse & connected a charged up battery to it & a negative to earth. NB: DO NOT start vehicle this way. There was enough power to open boot to get at the troublesome battery. Suspect collapsed cell, to be confirmed. Replaced battery started vehicle which can go in for a diagnostic checkup.
