2007 Other Fiat Models Car Alarm

2007 Other Fiat Models 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 35000 miles
A simple question. Why would the Car Alarm randomly trigger on my wife's Fiat Idea? It does have an ultrasonic sensor fitted, could this be the cause of the false triggers? The windows are closed and there is no noticable breeze at the time it activates, so air through the vents seems an unlikely trigger.
It has been been back to the local Fiat garage several times and nothing has changed. Is there a known fault with the alarm on this model?
The ultrasonic sensor seems to be used in a number of Fiat models by changing some of the jumper links, so I assume it is a tried and tested unit.

have the vehicle plugged into a diagnotic computer to check for alarm system faults .. a simple voltage drop could be setting the alarm !
