Engine Cooling problem

hi,
my fiat uno petrol 2000, is very good when running but once i have to stop the car at red light or in traffic jams it becomes problem suddenly heat increased to C level and car stops in mid road i have to restart and some times it doesn't start at all . after 10 to 15 minutes of cooling it starts and runs normally until next slow down or stoppage . i am not getting any remedy from my mechanic kindly suggest me what to do thanks in advance
