What is this error code and what does it mean? I bought the car listed above used January 2021, and 3 months later I get a check engine light. Had it scanned and p3409 came up. I really can’t afford repairs much and I have to get the car emissions inspected by the end of the month. Any ideas?

Hello,

The code:
P3409 - Cylinder 2 Deactivation/Intake Valve Control Circuit/Open

It could be triggered for a number of reasons.
It could be due to low oil pressure, faulty cylinder deactivation solenoid, or a harness for the solenoid.

The cylinder deactivation is meant to conserve fuel and improve efficiency.

I was not sure that the Focus has cylinder deactivation.

Are you experiencing any drivability issues?

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

No driving issues, works fine but won’t pass emissions with a check engine light on. Was wondering how much it would cost to fix.

Can you tell me what size engine is in your vehicle? Also, if it is turbo charged or naturally aspirated?

Are there any other codes?
I want to make sure that to code you got is the P3409 and not P0349.
