Hi sir, is there any way you can help me with this? I was changing my timing belt and one of the clamps moved and now my engine doesn’t want to turn. What could be the problem? I know the timings off but I fixed it and it still doesn’t want to move. Any suggestions?

Hi,

This engine is an interference engine. In other words, there isn't enough room between the top of the piston and an open valve for the engine to turn. This usually results in internal engine damage if the timing belt breaks or timing is off.

Are you able to turn the engine at all? When this happened, were you cranking the engine? If the cylinder head covers are still removed, are there any valves open that shouldn't be?

Let me know. I attached the directions from the manual for the removal and replacement of the belt. Take a look through it and let me know if there is anything that helps or was missed.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

It sounds like we have internal interference. If you remove the valve cover, inspect the valves when you turn it 180 degrees. I have a feeling one isn't going to move and is hitting the top of the piston due to being bent and stuck. Or, if you have it out of time and haven't forced it, it may just require retiming.

Let me know. I'm interested in knowing what you find.

Take care,

Joe
