Can I take the engine out of my 2006 Pontiac G6 gtp that has a 3.9l engine and put it in my 2009 Pontiac G6 that has a 3.5l engine?

Hello,

These engines are not interchangeable, so you cannot just install the 3.9L in the place of the 3.5L. This will require all the computers as well as transmission. Also, the mounting points could be different as well.
This will also need programming after the installation.

The best option would be to find another 3.5L and replace it.

Let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Okay, so how do I go about finding out everything I need to know to get the same engine? What I do know is it's a 3.5L VIN N (8th digit opt LZ4), Sdn California Emmisions but I don't know if it's opt NU6 or NUA?

Yes, the 8th digit of the VIN will help you find the correct engine. If you are going the used route, just call junk yards and see if they have that engine matching your VIN.
You can try lkqonline. Com to find used engines.

I got another 3.5L engine but it didn't have the torque converter on it. Will the torque converter from the 2006 GTP 3.9L work with the 2009 3.5L or do I need the same one that goes with the 3.5L? I'm thinking they are different cause the transmissions are different.

You will need the torque converter that fits the 3.5L.
