My car has engine rattle coming from top of engine. Oil levels are fine. It taps at start during idle and while accelerating.

Hello,

This could be a problem with your lifters. I have included some information for you in the diagrams below. Go through it and let us know what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

It is typical of camshaft actuators to make noise at start up when they are worn, low on oil or needs an oil change to heavier oil. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise? that would be great. You can upload it here with your response.

This guide will show you want I am talking about:

Please run down this guide and report back.

I agree with Ken on the oil level. The oil control valve for the variable valve timing will rattle when low on oil. These vehicles do not have lifters. They have little buckets called tappets which run in different sizes. Check your oil level first and maybe do an oil change. You maybe consuming oil already.
