I have an opportunity to buy a 1995 Eagle Talon in excellent condition for only $300 The problem is that the car is located 3 hours away and it needs an alternator. How do you change an alternator on this car? Is it a relatively easy job I could do there with the right tools, then drive it home? If not, how long would you guess a car might run on battery power before it died if I had a fresh battery in it? They told me the battery was dead, and weren't sure about the alternator. I believe it is because they said they jumpstarted the car just fine, but as soon as they unplugged the jumper cables, it died. Sounds like the alternator to me, doesn't it? Thank you. -Greg

Or it could just be a bad battery, if you drive it in the daytime, when you dont have to use lights etc. You should be ok, but make sure you put a new battery in it and try to drive it around the. Using the brakes and see if tries to shut off, if not your ok. Also, it wouldnt hurt to purchase one of those solar battery chargers from harbor freight, the twelve volt ones and it sits right up on the dash board, that way your constantly pumping twelve volts into the battery, (who knows, maybe that will take the place of an alternator) you heard it from me first. But try it. They are inexpensive
