Hi, hoping you can make sense of this. This is from the garage today. I have the car listed above it is a Coupe 59 plate.

So the DPF is blocked, which has caused back pressure and puts massive strain on the turbo. So with this being the case the car would need either the DPF cleaned or replaced. A new turbo is also required.

Is that a good answer?

Original diagnosis was straight DPF block and to remove and clean or remap. Then garage said three days later that the turbo (as above)!
Cost as originally quoted at £540 - Then raised to £1700.

Need help please.

The plugged DPF would raise the back pressure in the system which could cause the seals in the turbo to fail. Another part of the equation is heat. The exhaust system removes a lot of heat from the engine, the exhaust blockage would raise the temperatures in the system and those elevated temperatures could also damage the turbo.
Very possible that the turbo would need to be replaced as both problems can severely damage the bearings and seals for the turbine shaft. Once those are damaged it is only a matter of time before you have turbocharger failure.
