I have been told that the timing chain for the pass side is loose. Can I replace the guides or tension ometer without changing the timing chain. Or is this a bad idea. This is a 3.7L motor on a 1500

Hi there,

This is not advisable as it is the chain that stretches over a long period of time and the teeth on the gears wear down, this with normal wear and tear on the chain rails all add up to incorrect valve timing and chain noise, you should be doing the lot in one go.
