I own a 1999 Dodge 2500 Diesel, 5.9l Cummins with 200,000 plus miles. A few years back (2007) I had the fuel pump replaced per Cummins instructions at a Dodge dealer. They replaced the mechanical pump on the engine with an electrical pump on the fuel tank. Recently, I truck engine started to miiss and stopped suddenly and would not restart. I replaced the fuel filter and air filter. I tried to prime the injectors with fuel in the fuel filter housing, but would still not start. I added additional fuel just in case the gage was stuck, still would not start. I disconnected the fuel line from the filter back to the tank, to see if the fuel pump would send fuel up to the filter. No fuel delivered. Since the fuel pump was replace in 2007 I am hesitant in replacing to replace it again so soon. Do you have any suggestions to assure that the fuel pump is defective without taking it off? Is there a way to check the injector pump to make sure it is working properly too?
