Electrical problem

My truck will not start. You can hear the solenoid "clicking" when turning the key. I checked the battery and it's terminal connections and cleaned w/ a terminal brush...still hear the solenoid clicking when attempting to start. No obvious disconnected or bad wires that I can see. I bypassed the ignition and used a screw-driver at the solenoid and still it clicks. I connected battery cables to make sure I had maximum voltage and ran up the RPMs to charge my truck's system and still ... the solenoid clicks. I checked the battery also by turning on the headlights and windshield wipers and the headlights were bright and the wipers work. Now, I haven't been driving the truck much and l should be starting it far more often than I do because most of the time now I do notice that the battery seems low as the the engine sometimes will turn slowly and other times it will seem fine when starting. I use an OPTIMA brand batterry. Do you think it is in fact my battery?
