Electrical problem
2000 Dodge Stratus 4 cyl Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I just bought my car and a month later it died at a light, my wife started it again put it in drive and died again. No start, i changed the spark plugs and wires and it starts. Then she drives to gas station turns it off and it wont turn back on. I check and theres no spark to the plugs, replace plugs and wires again, nothing; replace coil, still nothing. I check and there is voltage going through the wiring attatched to the coil. Could this be my cam or crankshaft sensor? if so how do i test them? any answers would be greatly appreciated.

For sure check crank sensor
also check ASD relay (you can mark it and switch it with another relay just for the test )
check timing belt
if timing belt is good I would say its the crank sensor
good luck

The CPS (crankshaft position sensor) is a hall effect sensor. Using magnetic induction based on the rotating teeth on your flexplate(automatic trans.) or flywheel (manual trans.) the CPS "opens" and "closes" the electrical circuit between the ECU. The ECU can then calculate the number of teeth BTDC or ATDC for the cylinders. The point is that the CPS should continuously break the circuit after each tooth. The values should be infinity and zero for resistance depending on whether the circuit is completed or not.
