I have a 1996 Dodge stratus 2.4 ltr. The tachometer quick a few weeks ago. Then I was driving today and going up a small incline. I tried to accelerate, but only made up to about10-15 mph. Almost at the top of the hill it slowed and died. It did not sputter and seemed fine before I started up very small incline. I was low on gas and added some thinking I had just ran out. It will turn over, but will not start. Checked fuses and added more gas. Nothing. We had the fuel filter changed less than 6 months ago. Have had a lot of black deposits on pipe of muffler. Have about 93,000 miles and have had egr replaced 20000 miles ago along with cataletic converter. Please help. Thanks Donetta

Check engine light is it On or has flashed?

Last major tuneup?

Have had a lot of black deposits on pipe of muffler. Have about 93,000 miles and have had egr replaced 20000 miles ago along with cataletic converter. Is this mixed with black smoke?

Get the oxygen sensor/s and Cat recheck

It will turn over, but will not start. Check for fuel and spark and comeback and tell me what's missing, this one can be a bear to find.

Is this a DIY project if so bear in mind it requires special tools and testing equipment-Don't have it take her in.

It has fire and fuel. Took off the breather and squirted starter fluid into it, started but then dies again.
