Hi:
If you van see a brake caliper behind the wheel that looks like the one on the front, you need brake pads (your car has 4 wheel disc brakes). If you see a steel brake drum (looks like an upsidedown pot) and can not see the brakes or caliper, you need brake shoes.

Drum system = brake shoes
disc brakes = brake pads
