Sounds like the ignition switch is out of adjustment. It's on the right side of the steering column. Loosen two 5/16" screws to loosen the switch and slide it up or down to adjust it.

This happens to me too occasionally, Adjusting the screws sounds ALOT better than replacing the ignition switch and Lock cylinder. I'll try it. (1994 shadow base)
