My truck will not crank at times I notice when then starter does not crank the volt and fuel gauge does not work. I also have no power coming out of the relay to the solenoid. I have replaced the starter relay, the starter, and the battery and also tested the ignition switch. I had a new engine installed less then five hundred miles ago. When I jump the solenoid to start the truck the engine just cranks and it will not start.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the PCM as it controls most of these functions. Do you have a scan tool to look at information?

You will need to be sure you can communicate. Make sure you can communicate with the instrument cluster, body and engine. You should be able to look at sensor values.

Okay, also at times I have to press the gas pedal in order for it to start. Maybe all my problems are tied to the PCM.

When I connect the scanner am I looking to see if the sensors are working or what am I actually looking for? Also, does my truck have an impact sensor that would disable starting or would it disable everything?

No impact sensor.

You need to make sure the PCM is communicating first before looking for specific values.

It is the only way to see if it is working. You may need to take it to a shop to have it verified.

I plugged in the diagnostics tool and it said cannot connect. So I pulled the PCM fuse and and did the PCM reset procedure after that everything worked fine truck runs now. Last time I disconnected all the power it started up. What do you think?

You should not have to reset the PCM. The PCM sounds like it has an issue. It will happen again. One time, resetting will not work and will leave you stranded.

Yes, you will need a new PCM and have it flashed to your truck.

I was going to order one from allcomputerresources. Com, they ask for the VIN number so I am guessing they flash the PCM before they ship it so it is ready to go.

Make sure it will be flashed. If not, it will not run at all.

I parked my truck with half a tank and came to start it tried and noticed it was empty. Filled up back to half tank and it would not start. I primed throttle body with gas and it runs for a second. Swapped fuel relays and no change.
I need some information on what may be the cause and how I can be sure the fuel rails have gas and the injectors are primed.
I know this may not be just a simple problem and more diagnostics may be needed.
My best friend that was a ASE Master in all categories passed away and my mechanic abilities are limited to about 2000. I was his electrical tech and computer geek and he was my car encyclopedia and Ham radio guru.
Well thanks and any information will help.

I have found that many times when the fuel tank is empty, the pump sucks up dirt and it either ruins the pump or pluggs the fuel filter.

What you need to do is check fuel pump pressure to the fuel rail. Here is both a how to video and step by step instructions for checking it. Check it out and let me know what you find. Also, you will need a gauge. They sell them on the site here or many parts stores will lend or rent them. If you have to rent one, you may be better off purchasing one so you have it for the future.

Regardless, let me know what you find as far as pressure, the exact size of the engine you have and then I can check what the pressure should be to determine if you are wthin spec.

My starter will not turn when I go to start my truck after driving it unless I reset my PCM. Also, my fuel and volt gauge will not work either. Do I have a ground issue or a faulty PCM?
