Engine misfiring can be caused by compression, fuel and ignition problems. You can start by checking the following below

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.

Do you have a check engine light?

Its hard to say-go ahead and check and test the CPS disregard the timing at this time and follow thru on what I mentioned earlier and comeback with some testing results so that we can continue

What we need to do now is scanned the computer for codes to identify where its coming from within the engine mangement system. I need the code/s this is our starting point.

If you have a fuel pressure gauge read the fuel pressure and comeback with the readings this will help us eliminate the fuel system out of the way.
